Brätsch uses oil paint and a variety of other materials to explore the nature of painting in a digital age. Many of her works resemble geodes or marbled surfaces. She says that

She uses stucco marmo a process originating in the 17th century where plaster, pigment, and glue are used to imitate marble and other stones.
